Noncompliance Fees

Members found to be exceeding the bounds of their purchased storage will be found to be in noncompliance. Members will be notified of their noncompliance and will be charged the penalty fee listed above daily until they have remedied their storage. If you have any questions in if your storage is in compliance you can ask a Shop Tech, Tech Lead, Staff, or the Executive Director.

Late Fees

Any storage that is being used without first paying for it will be assessed the Penalty Fee listed above. If the member already has a card on file, that card will automatically be charged the unpaid storage fee until the member sees the Shop Tech on duty or Protohaven staff to properly set up a storage arrangement.

Late fees will automatically be charged to the member’s card that is on file.

If a member chooses to cancel their membership, they are responsible for paying any late/unpaid storage fees. Failure to pay late/unpaid storage fees may result in legal action and/or could prevent the membership from being reinstated in the future.

AMP Rates

A 20% discount will be applied for AMP members who choose to purchase storage. When purchasing storage, a member must let the Shop Tech on duty know they are an AMP member so that the storage fee can be adjusted accordingly. Please note that AMP rates do not apply to late fees.

Storage Terms and Conditions

Members who acquire storage agree to the below terms and conditions and to adhere to all of the policies and practices outlined above..

Storage is a privilege of membership and is only available to current members in good standing. Protohaven reserves the right to cancel or revoke a member’s storage privileges at any time. Any members who violate storage policies risk having their membership revoked. Should a situation occur where Protohaven needs to cancel or revoke storage for any reason, the organization will make an attempt to contact the member via email to set up a time for them to come and retrieve their belongings. In the event of storage or membership cancellation or revocation, no refund will be provided for any storage fees that have been paid for that time period.

Once a member leaves the premises for the day, any items that are not properly stored will be considered donations and may be moved to lost and found, disposed of, or reassigned without notification. This includes items that are not stored within the perimeter of the storage receptacle as well as any new or creative/nontraditional types of storage in or around Protohaven property (ex: backyard, parking lot, etc) that have not been approved by Protohaven staff.

Protohaven staff, volunteers, and instructors are not responsible for keeping an eye on any member items or projects. Any member who continuously leaves the premises without taking or properly storing their items risks having their membership revoked.

Storage fees are non-transferable and cannot be credited, refunded, or pro-rated. Example: If a member purchases storage for a month, and only uses it for 17 days, they will not receive a credit or refund for the unused days.

It is the responsibility of members to keep track of the duration of their storage and when payments are due. Protohaven is not responsible for contacting members to remind them that their storage is near expiration or has expired. Members who do not remain current on storage payments will be assessed late fees that must be paid before they are able to purchase future storage. Refusal to pay late fees may result in membership being revoked.

While Protohaven strives to maintain a safe and secure environment, it cannot guarantee the safety or security of any items stored at Protohaven by its members. Members are solely responsible for their own belongings and assume all risks of damage or loss. Protohaven is not liable for any damage or loss of items stored at Protohaven, whether due to theft, fire, vandalism, natural disaster, or any other cause. By storing items at Protohaven, members agree to release Protohaven from any and all claims arising from damage or loss of such items. Members are encouraged to speak with their insurance provider to discuss any personal policies that might cover their belongings.

The following items are prohibited from being stored at Protohaven. Please note that this list is not all-inclusive and can be amended, verbally or in writing, at any time by the Executive Director. Any members storing any of the following items will be subject to having their membership revoked.

  • Firearms, ammunition
  • Fireworks and other explosives
  • Hazardous chemicals (certain chemicals may be stored in the fire cabinet only)
  • Perishable food items
  • Animals
  • Illegal substances of any kind

Storage is audited twice daily to ensure compliance with policies and that payments are current. Shop Techs will review storage at the beginning of the AM shift and at the beginning of the PM shift and notify the Membership Coordinator if any storage is not in compliance or has expired.

Members can choose to share storage, but Protohaven is not able to split storage fees.

Members are not permitted to obtain Protohaven storage and subsequently rent it to another member or non-member for a profit.

Please note that Protohaven may not have the capacity to accommodate all variations of storage needs. It is the responsibility of members to determine how to make their projects and other items fit within the storage options that are provided. For situations where this may not be possible, Protohaven staff has the discretion to allow for temporary alternative paid storage solutions.

Protohaven reserves the right to make exceptions, cancel storage, limit the amount of storage for any member, and to amend these policies at any time as needed.
